H2H: Amiens vs. Brest – Prediction (Ligue 1

This will be the first game between Amiens and Brest in Ligue 1, last facing each other in April 2017, in Ligue 2 (Amiens won 3-2).

Ahead of kick-off, Amiens have scored first – and done so in the opening 15 minutes – in each of their last three Ligue 1 (L1) home fixtures. However, they are also guilty of surrendering that advantage shortly after, and have conceded the equaliser inside the following 15 minutes on each occasion. Amiens’ top league scorer Stiven Mendoza has scored four goals so far, with three coming in the first/last 15 minutes. Entertainment imminent? Each of Amiens’ last three L1 home games have featured exactly four goals and a 2-1 half-time scoreline either way. Furthermore, Brest are conceding 2.0 goals on average per away game, having conceded the division’s highest average number of shots on target per away game (7.40) so far.

Amiens have scored last (and beyond the 89th minute) in two of their last three L1 home matches, subsequently rescuing a net total of three points. On two of the last three occasions that Amiens have (albeit in Ligue 2) led a league H2H at home 1-0 at half-time, Brest have won the second half 1-0 to recover a point. Brest have conceded the opener within 30 minutes in three of their last four away league games.

Encouragingly however, Olivier Dall’Oglio’s men are clinical in the final third, with 41.67% of their shots on target in away league matches being converted into goals. That represents L1’s second-best percentage. Yoann Court has been directly involved in 61.54% of Brest’s L1 goals this season (two goals, six assists). Each of his two goals have been equalisers. Though the hosts will have their chances, this could still be tight. Albeit in the second tier, four of the previous five league H2Hs (across all venues) have been settled by a one-goal margin.
