Bayern Munich vs Tottenham – Prediction (Champions League – 11.12.2019)

Bayern Munich may have already progressed, but a win would see them become only the seventh team in UEFA Champions League (UCL) history to win all six group stage games. Having scored at least three goals in four of their UCL matches so far – and hitting seven in the reverse fixture – as well as leading at half-time in three, Bayern are solid favourites here. The hosts have, however, lost their last two Bundesliga games 2-1, but haven’t lost three competitive fixtures in a row since May 2015. At home every fixture bar one this season has produced over 2.5 goals (W6, D1, L2), with four of their victories coming by at least a -2 handicap.

Tottenham Hotspur have already qualified for the next round but will be seeking revenge. Spurs responded to that heavy H2H loss with three consecutive UCL victories, netting at least four goals in each, but have never won four UCL games in a row. In fact there’s been at least four match goals in all five of Tottenham’s UCL fixtures this season, whilst both teams have scored in four of their last five competitive games on the road (W2, D1, L2). Two of those fixtures saw the opener scored by the 15th minute, as have three of Tottenham’s five UCL games.

Players to watch: Thomas Müller scored in Bayern’s last home game – it was the first time Bayern have lost when he’s found the net (W82, D5, L1). Dele Alli has scored four goals since José Mourinho took charge of Tottenham – three were as his side’s first goalscorer.

Stat attack: Three of Bayern’s last four home games saw the opener netted by the 20th minute. Tottenham have lost only one of their last six away games versus German opposition (W3, D2). Six of Tottenham’s last eight UCL losses featured both teams scoring.
