This is the first Rheinderby in the Bundesliga between Düsseldorf and Köln since February 1997 (a 2-0 home win for Köln). Their last meeting took place in Bundesliga 2 in December 2013 (Köln won 3-2 in Düsseldorf).

With no clean sheet in their last 12 Bundesliga away games, and with their previous three top-flight defeats (home/away) arriving by at least a two-goal margin, you could forgive Cologne fans for travelling here with muted hopes.
