Jannik Sinner vs. Miomir Kecmanovic – Prediction (ATP Milan – 08.11.2019)

Preview and players comparison.

While Jannik Sinner has bagged an impressive 24 wins on indoor hardcourt in 2019 alone, Miomir Kecmanovic could win only nine matches on the surface so far in his career, with four of those wins coming in 2019 (4/6).

Jannik Sinner’s hopes of reaching the semifinal of ATP Next Gen Finals as an undefeated player ended at the hands of Ugo Humbert on Thursday. It was an evenly contested match, but the Frenchman just managed to get the crucial breaks of serve in the final two sets, 4-3 3-4 4-2 4-2. The talented Italian teenager very nearly missed out on the direct qualification for the ATP Next Gen Finals and needed a wildcard to compete in Milan this week. However, Jannik Sinner has done well so far to justify the selection by securing two solid wins over Frances Tiafoe and Mikael Ymer. Reaching the semifinal of ATP Next Gen Finals is a terrific result for the 18-year-old Jannik Sinner, especially considering the previous two wildcard entrants — Gianluigi Quinzi in 2017 and Liam Caruana in 2018 — finished the group stage without a win. Jannik Sinner’s only previous semifinal appearance on the main tour came in Antwerp last month, where he defeated Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinal but failed against Stan Wawrinka in straight sets in the semifinal.

Miomir Kecmanovic made the most of Alejandro Davidovich Fokina’s fitness struggles to race to a straight-set win in his final round-robin match on Thursday, which also secured his progression to the semifinal, 4-1 4-1 4-3. The Serbian also played his first semifinal match on the main tour this year, and he managed to win it by defeating Jordan Thompson in three sets in Antalya, where he had an opportunity to lift his maiden title but lost to Lorenzo Sonego in three close sets, despite winning the first set. Miomir Kecmanovic hasn’t won back-to-back matches since Cincinnati Masters (in August), and on current form, it would be extremely difficult for him to stop Jannik Sinner in front of the vocal Italian crowd.
