H2H: Toulouse vs. Lyon – Prediction (Ligue 1

Toulouse have won just 20% of their Ligue 1 games against Lyon (10/50), their lowest win percentage against an opponent they have faced at least three times in the top-flight (level with Montpellier, 8/40).

Despite a valiant display that saw Toulouse launch a comeback after conceding two goals within the opening ten minutes, an injury-time strike saw them fall to a 3-2 defeat at Rennes in their last Ligue 1 (L1) game. Whilst a disappointing scoreline, that result made it four consecutive league fixtures where both teams scored. All four of Efthymios Koulouris’ (TOU) league goals this term were netted after half-time. At home, Toulouse remain one of just two teams without a draw this league campaign (W3, L2), with all three of their home victories seeing the hosts draw at half-time. In fact Toulouse are yet to score a first-half goal at home, with four of their six L1 strikes here being netted in the 15 minutes immediately following half-time.

They may struggle to keep that trend going against a Lyon side that are yet to score or concede within that same time period on their league travels, albeit the visitors travel here winless in their last four top-flight road trips (D2, L2). All four of Moussa Dembélé’s (LYO) away league goals this season were scored before half-time – two before the tenth minute. Their two away losses this season came via a 1-0 scoreline, and four of their last five L1 away defeats have now arrived by a one-goal margin. However with a win-rate of just 45.45% as an away favourite in L1 games since the beginning of last season (W10, D6, L6), and just 25% since the beginning of this season (W1, D1, L2), there’s no guarantee Lyon’s winless away run will finish here.
